Our first event: a chance to win a piece of Bennington Potters Stoneware

I have exciting news for my readers. We are having our very first giveaway. If you have read my blog for long, or if you notice my background photo, you have probably seen some lovely stoneware from Bennington Potters. They have generously sent me a sample piece of pottery and offered one to share with my readers.

Several years back I was hunting for something outstanding for an "Us" gift. Dear Hubby and I usually buy something for the two of us to enjoy on big holidays or milestones. On this particular occasion I happened upon Bennington Potters, and they became a part of our family. We are slowly getting together a few pieces of their fine stoneware, and both my husband and I treasure them. I can't count the number of times when either he or I will turn away from a shelf full of other plates or bowls to wash our 'special' dishes for a meal. You can imagine, then, how excited I am to announce that Bennington Potters has gifted a piece to me and has authorized me to offer my readers a chance to win another. I have been wanting to host a blog give-away event for quite a while, and for my first event I get to offer you one of my very favorite things.

Here is the lovely gift that they sent, a Handled Banneton & Crock set in blue agate.

***UPDATE: After using these dishes on a daily basis, we still love the look, but unfortunately the  glaze doesn't hold up to regular use. On the dinner plates in particular, we have found that the irregular surface (the plates are not completely level, a characteristic that we originally chalked up to an acceptable variance resulting from being handmade) has allowed certain spots to become dull, almost as if the have been sanded. We stopped stacking them, but even so, the wear is such that we have made the difficult decision to stop collecting and using BP dinnerware. We have set aside the plates and several other items for use as purely decorative items.

***Most of this post has been deleted, as my opinion of the product and company has changed significantly.

I've been following you, but not in that stalker type way:) You are an evil, evil person for sending me to look at that lovely Bennington site! My favorite piece is, honestly, the sushi gift set. I love that a company that is so "traditional" is so modern. That just tickles me! I love the traditional blue pattern they have. I'm deeply in love with the apple baker too!

The heart shaped baker in Cobalt "Starry Skies" Blue Glaze. I love the idea of gifting heart shaped pies! You are on my Yahoo now.

Hello. Your blog is great and the tips are very easy to follow. I checked out the Bennington Potters website and really liked the Stoneware Baking Pan / Round Pan.

I can't wait to read your next update.

Long time follower here. Blog is fun and well written. I like the handmade stoneware batter bowl, large, black on green agate. It would be perfect for making pancakes for my daughter.

I've been following you on Facebook but have signed up to follow your blog too. As you know, I love your recipes and am always waiting for the next new one. Hmmm, which piece of Bennington Potters would be my favorite? I think it would be the Large Batter Bowl in Blue Agate just because I am ALWAYS cooking and would make my life just a little easier! :)

I too have been following your blog, based on your facebook postings of "what's for dinner". Loving the recipes and hope to try one or two in the near future. Visited the Bennington Potters site and determined that there just isn't one favorite. The giveaway item seems to be at the forefront, though, because of the multiple possibilities for use. I would say that my favorite finish is the Tavernware. I think it would fit with any of the serving pieces I have already.

I'm a follower & I'm attempting to get a google acct. (I know it seems trivial to some but it gives me heartburn when I try!)
I love the nesting bowls in either the agate or Morning glory blue!!

Thanks!

Thanks for posting your terrific ideas for using the Banneton and crock set. I bought extra little crocks and use them all time. They are perfect for holding mayo, relish, etc. when we grill burgers and want to be a little classier than serving relish from a jar. Now I have a new mission. Our apple tree has a bumper crop and we have baked apples in our future! Bennington Potters are my favorite dishware. I use them every day. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thank you for commenting, Sally, and I am glad to have given you some ideas.I agree the little crocks are such a nice touch when you want to dress up condiments, and the dishes have such a great feel to them. We add to our collection whenever we can. :)
